Weather forecast for Portland, Oregon Thursday, July 6

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – We continue to swim in the cooler, cloudy weather of the diving trough. It is the drop in the jet stream which has remained the main generator of our weather at the start of the week. This continues for another day, as it looks like the trough will slow its movement for another day or two. This means you can expect more clouds overhead before you get some sunshine.

We will have a break in the clouds in the afternoon, becoming sunnier. Portland will have gray skies to start the day as it goes. There may also be a few isolated showers. Nothing too wet. Nothing like Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will be in the lower 60s as you head out the door. You can find the lower 70s in the early afternoon. If the sun comes out early to play, we should hit the upper 70s. Not quite average, but it’s getting close. Even on cloudy days, we feel temperate. Temperatures will again be the warmest for the lower Columbia Basin on Thursday. The highs are warming up in the mid upper 80s. Fantastic weather for the Dalles and south into the Madras areas.

If you plan to travel to the Oregon Coast, you will need to be prepared for more cloud. Hopefully it will be fine enough for some shades of blue for the afternoon too. I think areas like Lincoln City and even areas of Oceanside can break in the clouds.

Have a good Thursday!
