Weather forecast for Portland, Oregon for Wednesday, June 22, 2022

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Wednesday and Thursday will be the coolest of the next seven. Then grab your surfboard, because we’re going through a heat wave all weekend.

On Wednesday afternoon we expect to break out of the clouds and into the sun. Highs for Wednesday and Thursday will be in the mid to high 70s, as close to normal as possible. Gone are the days of the low 60s. We’re only going up from here and bracing ourselves for the hot shock of our system.

Here are the projected highs for Portland going forward:

Friday: mid 80s

Saturday: upper 80s-lower 90s

Sunday: Mid 90s

Monday: Low 90s

Tuesday’s high was 83°C, the hottest day of the year so far for Portland. It is also one of our record days a year ago at 97°.

How dangerous will the heat be this weekend? It depends on your tolerance. Since last Friday, our daytime high for Portland has increased by 23°. Most would agree that a 60° to 83° warm-up was a welcome change. Now, if you go from 60° to 95° in a week, that’s a big adjustment.

June 2021 is hard to forget. The start of June last year started cool, low to mid-60s. By the end of the month, our daytime highs had jumped 53°! From June 26-28 of last year, we recorded the hottest temperatures on record in Portland, and most places in PNW.
