PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Your typical summer heat arrives for our Wednesday as temperatures soar into the upper mid-80s.

Before we get there we have a nice pleasant morning with temperatures in the lower 60s. It’s the type of summer day where you can get things done in the cool morning air, you can also enjoy the afternoon warm-up. Expect sunny skies for the day.

There will also be less wildfire smoke around the Willamette Valley as the wind blows east. Air quality is expected to be in the green outside of central Oregon communities that are closer to the wildfires. Another round of lightning and thunderstorms for southern Oregon on Wednesday. This is moisture pumped off the Pacific as an area of ​​low pressure circulates this water in our direction.

There will still be heat for central and northeastern Oregon. Temperatures to jump close to three digits by the afternoon. There is also a red flag warning in place through Wednesday evening for areas like Arlington and Hermiston. Dry conditions with gusty winds will cause the fire to spread rapidly.
