After a windy day yesterday at Mammoth (G 45 last night), they will calm down today, but still windy. For Wednesday and Thursday our forecast area appears to warm (as a flat ridge sets in), with highs in the mid-1950s for Bishop and the mid-1940s for Mammoth. Then a fast system passes through Mammoth Friday with a slight chance of snow. Dennis Mattinson was EPA Program Director and Air Quality Specialist. He specialized in the monitoring, measurement and movement of 2.5 and 10 micron particles (referred to as PM-2.5 and PM-10). He also specializes in forecasting the Owens Valley and Mammoth Lakes weather forecasting, giving him the advantage over accurate weather in the Eastern Sierra. Dennis was trained by the EPA and NWS Las Vegas to forecast weather parameters, to better understand PM-10 migration in Owens Valley and Mono County. He started forecasting on radio (92.5 / 96.5 FM SierraWave Media) in 2007. In 2008, TV-33 began using its local forecasts for shows across the region. Locals and tourists all over the world use its weather information to plan their trips, including mountaineers and other adventurers. The movie “Iron Man” used his predictions in their aerial filming of the mountains around the Alabama hills.
