Snowfall Weather Forecast for Western Massachusetts

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm team has issued a weather alert for freezing rain, sleet and snow from Thursday evening through Friday morning.

A Winter storm warning is in effect for Franklin, West Hampshire and North Berkshire counties from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday for snow, sleet and ice accumulation.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Hampden, East Hampshire and South Berkshire counties from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday for light accumulations of snow/sleet and ice that may cause slippery conditions.

What to expect:

The rain will mix and change to freezing rain and ice pellets from the northwest to the southeast overnight. The lows will be in the upper 20s.

Expect sleet and freezing rain for the Friday morning ride. The winter mix will last until Friday afternoon, but will change to sleet and snow showers by 3 p.m. We will have lighter sleet/snow accumulations south of Mass Pike with higher amounts in Franklin and northern Berkshire counties. It is likely that there will be persistent sleet/ice on the road surfaces for the Friday evening trip. Highs will be around 30.
