Our week started with a bit of rain in Mid-Michigan. Hope you saw some where you are, because we’re not going to see much more for the rest of the week. Skies will clear in the evening as a warm front moves towards our east. This front opened the door to a new batch of hot air. With a good bit of starlight throughout the night, early Tuesday morning low temperatures will be mostly in the mid-60s. Our “normal” low is 57 degrees.
Summer officially begins at 5:14 a.m. on Tuesday, and it’s really going to be a summer day! With bright sunshine and prevailing west-southwesterly winds, temperatures will hit the 80s by noon. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 90s. The heat index may approach 100 degrees, but it shouldn’t stay in that range for very long. By Tuesday evening, a cool front will drift across the state. There won’t be much humidity with it, so only a few showers will be possible.
In the wake of the front, temperatures will continue to hold at above average levels for the rest of the week. We will even have a few more chances of 90 degree days. A few points could touch 90 again on Wednesday, while a few low 90s will be possible on Friday and Saturday. Although the heat is still lingering, it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting much rain to help cool us down. Although a shower or two cannot be ruled out on Tuesday evening/Wednesday, we will have a little better luck on Saturday evening/early Sunday. -JR
