Apple swallowed criticism of its weather app, prompting unflattering headlines like “Why Apple’s Weather App for iOS Sucks” and “Why is the weather app always so fake?“.

Apple’s in-house weather app has a paltry 3.3 out of 5 rating on the App Store – more than fully behind the AccuWeather app, which is free.

The weather app was one of the default apps that often ended up hidden in a folder called “Apps I don’t use but can’t delete” next to the Apple compass and the little Keynote app. used.

But Apple turned a storm into sunshine without entirely revamping the weather app.

iOS 15 brought a host of new features to iPhone software, including Facemask ID and the Focus program.

Improvements to the weather app have gone unnoticed, with 10-day forecasts and new notification options.

Perhaps the lack of hype is because the best new features are subtle or hidden – but still accessible and useful.

To view a full screen radar, tap the map icon in the lower left corner of the weather app – the map can be arranged to show rainfall, temperature and even air quality in an area given.

When the radar is open, tap the screen once to animate the forecast on a 12-hour cycle.

Click “Done” in the upper left corner of the full-screen radar to return to the main page of the Weather app.

Below the hourly forecast is a colored bar with a white dot – this dot represents the current temperature compared to the high and low temperatures predicted for the day.

Scroll down the Weather app to view more detailed weather data such as UV Index, Real Feel, and Visibility.
