NFL weather report and forecast for week 7: important weather conditions in San Francisco

Normally, I don’t adjust the rankings of qualified players too much based on the weather. But I’ll make an exception for what could be a Sunday night drencher.

Indianapolis Colts vs. San Francisco 49ers (-4), O / U 42.5 | Sunday 8:20 p.m. ET

Every year there is a game that stands out because of the weather. The type of game where the conditions on the pitch are more like a mud pit than a game where guys who get paid millions… and millions… of dollars should walk without signing a waiver. The 2021-2022 NFL season will struggle to overtake what we might see coming Sunday night.

Chances are this will be the worst weather we’ve seen for a game since slopfest which was on 2019 game between Washington and San Francisco, which ended 9-0. In fact, it could be pretty darn similar.

Of course, it’s time for things to change, but the damage will have been done to the pitch even at kick-off. The rain is expected to move through the Santa Clara area as early as Saturday night, and once it starts it won’t stop. In fact, it will only intensify. At kickoff, we could see almost three-quarters of an inch of precipitation already on the pitch. But the heaviest rain in the system will hit during play, approaching 0.2 tenths per hour.

The wind could have an additional impact on the game

It’s almost a mirror image of what we saw in Washington a few years ago. The only difference will be the added wind, with sustained winds around 15mph and gusts of 20 to 30+ when the game opens.

Add to that the fact that Levi Stadium has been criticized for its pitch conditions in the past, and we have a significant problem on our hands.

Traditionally, I rarely adjust rankings significantly for positional players based on the weather. But here I make an exception. Guys like Jonathan Taylor and even Deebo Samuel go down my rankings. Still, I can’t recommend sitting them down if you have them – just temper expectations of what could be a battle between the 1930s.

NFL Weather Report and Forecast for Week 7 Games: Chance of Rain

While the focus will be on Sunday night, there are a few more games with a chance of rain in week 7.

Atlanta Falcons (-1.5) vs. Miami Dolphins, O / U 48 | Sunday at 1 p.m. ET

It’s your typical Florida rainstorm. While we wouldn’t expect to see a significant amount of rain, it is possible that we will see intermittent periods where it intensifies and then falls again. As always, when temperatures rise at noon, there is a risk of isolated thunder and lightning.

In all fairness, I don’t think the weather can even have an impact on Miami’s offense. They’re in disarray and face off against a Falcons team who have had an extra week to get ready and get Calvin Ridley back. It’s hard to have any faith in anyone outside of Jaylen Waddle for the Dolphins.

New Orleans Saints (-4) vs Seattle Seahawks, O / U 42.5 | Monday 8:15 p.m. ET

It’s a similar situation to San Francisco, which just went from an 11 to around 4. Rain will be in the area starting Sunday and will continue through Tuesday morning. From about noon to midnight on Monday, total precipitation is not expected to exceed 0.02 to 0.04 inches per hour. We also expect to see some wind making an appearance with winds of 15-20mph and gusts up to 23mph.

We got news on Saturday as to whether Alex Collins was going to dress up, which is a bit of a surprise since he didn’t practice Thursday or Friday (groin). I’d rather be hesitant to play Collins this week given the injury and the addition of IR’s Rashaad Penny who could take some of the volume.

NFL weather report and forecast for week 7 games: worry-free weather

With a handful of matches appearing on the radar due to rainy conditions, the rest of the Week 7 schedule should be one of smooth sailing weather-wise.

Carolina Panthers (-3) v New York Giants, O / U 42.5 | Sunday at 1 p.m. ET

I mean, honestly, what’s going on on Earth with the Giants? Did Daniel Jones walk over a crack? Did Joe Judge go under a ladder? Does the whole organization owe money to a voodoo priestess who is currently sitting in the bayou somewhere listening to a Bunk Johnson with an entire room full of dolls wearing Giants swimsuits with enough needles to finance a retirement home?

Do you want to know how bad things are going in the state of fantasy this week? Creepy Dante Pettis is a must-have to the limit. As for the weather for week 7 in East Rutherford, expect 61 degrees, sunny, with winds of 6 mph.

New York Jets vs New England Patriots (-7), O / U 42.5 | 1:00 p.m. ET

In a week where Damien Harris could have struggled with injuries and a fumble, Bill Belichick doubled his best RB. Harris has scored 18 times for 101 yards and one scoring. He now faces the Jets and their 32nd ranked defense, which grants him 32.84 fantasy points per game. Harris could go ballistic in week 7.

Foxborough’s Week 7 weather forecast is expected to feature sunny skies, winds of 6 mph and highs near 59 degrees.

Kansas City Chiefs (-4.5) vs. Tennessee Titans, O / U 57.5 | Sunday at 1 p.m. ET

Can something stop Derrick Henry? I mean, apart from one of the Greek gods literally descending from his perch on Mount Olympus, Henry walks over 120 yards. In all fairness, he could be one of them living among us until proven guilty. Just ask Josh Norman for his opinion.

As for the rest of the weather forecast for Nashville, expect mostly sunny skies, 8 mph winds, and 80 degree temperatures.

Alright, Bears fans, you can just scroll to the next game. This one is perfect for a quick TL; DR. Okay, now that they’re gone, did Aaron Rodgers tell the lady who gave him the double bird and the whole crowd in Soldier Field that he didn’t own them the best piece of his ever? ? It hits the double check of the delivery to perfection, then goes just for the chin strap. It’s times like this that we love rivalries and when the players themselves are on the pitch. Well, that’s when the NFL allows them, I guess.

As for the game, cast the usual suspects for Green Bay. Davante Adams and Aaron Jones have the chance to lead the week in their positions. As for Washington, Antonio Gibson makes me nervous. With the trade deadline fast approaching, I might throw in some flyers to see if you can find someone who thinks they’re more valuable than them.

Expect temperatures of 52 degrees, winds of 8 mph, and cloudy skies in Green Bay for Week 7.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens (-6.5), O / U 45.5 | Sunday at 1 p.m. ET

Lamar Jackson is just a short-range passer. A runner who happens to be able to throw the ball. That’s what everyone wants to tell me. Would you be shocked if I told you that Jackson is No.1 in the NFL in terms of predicted aerial meters per attempt (10.1) and aerial yards completed per attempt (8.1) according to NFL Next Gen Stats?

It’s not like he has the third longest pass of the season in overhead yards or anything (60.8 yards). But yeah, it’s just a running QB. Understood.

Expect temperatures of 67 degrees, winds of 5 mph, and partly sunny skies in Baltimore for Week 7.

Chicago Bears vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-13), O / U 47 | Sunday 4:25 p.m. ET

Can we take a moment to talk about how we hit the peak of the silly season? I mean, it’s the NFL. The best of the best. Yet we have three spreads of 13 points or more. This is stuff you see in college, not in the NFL. It’s one of those games. The others being JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins’ rematch against Houston and a traded QB battle with Matthew Stafford and the Rams against Jared Goff and the Lions.

Even with Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski for the Buccaneers, give me the Bucs, because why not? Life is too short to bet on boring games. Also, it just means more fancy stitches to go through.

As for the weather forecast for Week 7, expect temperatures of around 52 degrees and winds of 7 mph in Tampa.
