Here’s who’s to blame for the fake weather report in Rochester
My husband has his pilot’s license and to say that we monitor the weather at home would be an understatement. If you were watching the weather in Rochester, Minnesota today, you might have noticed the odd rainfall that also showed up. Otherwise, I’ll let you know.
We now know who to blame for the fake weather report in Rochester
Earlier on Wednesday (November 2), the US National Weather Service La Crosse Wisconsin posted a photo on its Facebook page indicating that a small problem occurred at Rochester International Airport.
For those in the Rochester area, you have probably noticed that the airport reported light rain this afternoon. The sensor is not broken. The current weather sensor just sees a cobweb. When there is wind, these canvases blow a little. This tricks the sensor into believing it is raining when in reality it is not. As the winds die down in the late afternoon and evening, the sensor will likely stop reporting light rain.
There was no rain today, but we had some pretty incredible temperatures. I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy it, because the cold air and the snow come next.
Did I see snow in SE Minnesota…in mid-October?
A few weeks ago, I was driving back to Rochester, Minnesota from Wisconsin, and on I-90, coming straight at my windshield, were the horrible white flakes we call snow. I almost stopped my car because I was in shock that this is already happening on October 14th.
Most of my colleagues would tell you that I’m not a fan. When that “s” word appears in the forecast, it takes all the power in my body and it hurts my bones to say the precipitation that should be in our air – “snow”.
I’ve heard all the ‘change your perspective’ and ‘it’ll get better’ and ‘be thankful for the snow, we need moisture’ conversations. I try. I always try to be sincere with you and if I’m being honest, I’d rather have a beach and the ocean next to me.
