Film your own weather report and more with CARROT Weather 5.3

Fans of the popular CARROT Weather app have a new update to download and this adds a cool new feature to create your own weather reports on the fly. Other improvements include smart new layouts and more.

Now available for download on the App Store, the great feature of the CARROT Weather 5.3 update is undoubtedly the possibility of filming your own weather reports. You can use a script that the app automatically generates for you or create your own, but the results will always be great. Users can also create screenshots rather than videos if they wish

Film your own newscast style weather reports to share with your friends. Each video is only 30 seconds long and all you have to do is read the crazy script I generate for you. (Or switch to “unscripted mode” to improvise!) Just hit the Share button to get started.

Arguably more useful, the new smart layouts are the way CARROT uses to bring up the right weather information at the right time, like precipitation information when it rains, for example.

Want to show a more rainfall-focused user interface when it’s going to rain? Or promote the extended daily forecast at the top of the screen in the evening? Well now I can smartly change your layouts for you! To set a layout as a smart layout, all you need to do is visit the My Layouts screen. (Premium required.)

This is not all either. New air quality data is included, as is a bunch of new achievements that users should be looking for if that’s their kind of thing.

Other improvements include:

  • The Current Observations section can now display the titles of active weather alerts.
  • The Weather Alerts screen now displays a list of active alerts if multiple weather alerts are active.
  • The “next day” summary now focuses more on upcoming changes in weather conditions.
  • Added a “compact height” option for the Current Observations section.
  • Added a “weather conditions” data point for the Current Observations section.
  • Added “next 3 hours” delay for cards.
  • Improved temperature calculations felt for Environment Canada.

Is it any wonder that CARROT Weather is one of the best iPhone applications out there?
