Al Roker takes home work in stride. Tuesday, the host of “Today” made the weather forecast live from his kitchen. It was her second day staying home after the morning show due to coronavirus concerns.

“I didn’t have to commute, so I slept,” Roker said, explaining that no NBC News team was present at his home to minimize exposure. Rather, he was using an iPad to broadcast and a small TV screen to show the relevant maps.

“We kind of rigged the system and I have all my graphics and everything I need,” Roker said before sitting down and moving on to the weather forecast.

Entering the segment, co-host Savannah Guthrie explained that Roker’s absence was due to the show’s crew “being super, super cautious.”

“There was a 9-hour employee, someone from the third hour today, who tested positive for the virus. Craig and Al have had contact, so we keep them, very cautiously, at home, but they feel good.

Tuesday was the second day staying home not only for Roker, but for co-host Craig Melvin as well. During Monday’s show, Guthrie and Hoda Kotb explained their absence to the audience, once again, as born out of an abundance of caution.
